The next Perth Biodesign Course will run from late May to early December.
Weekly class sessions are run for a few hours on a Tuesday night and it is expected that participants will attend 90% of these. There will also be the occasional Saturday workshop. Outside of class, participants will need to commit extra time to work on deliverables and attend team meetings. We estimate that the weekly time commitment is approximately 8 hours.
The main specialities we are looking for are engineers (including software engineers), researchers, clinicians and business professionals. We take students as early as late undergraduates through to senior professionals.
That said, we welcome anyone with a passion for health innovation to apply! You do not require any experience in medtech or digital health innovation to be a part of the course.
No! We want our teams to own 100% of their IP on graduating from the course and to feel fully empowered to move forward with implementing it.
We strongly advise participants to discuss their IP arrangements with their employer prior to commencing the program to ensure they are aware of their rights and obligations under relevant employer policies and procedures.
Stage 1 of the application process is an online application form, very short video and a copy of your CV.
Successful applicants in Stage 1 may be invited for a short interview with the Program Delivery Leads.
Due to subsidy by UWA and our partner organisations, the cost to participants (including GST) is:
$1,500 for students at UWA or partner organisations*
$2,000 for other students
$3,000 for staff at UWA or partner organisations*
$5,000 for others.
At the end of the course, if all deliverables have been completed, participants will receive a $500 reimbursement.
